Turku City Theatre is the official repertoire theatre of the City of Turku. We stage 8-10 plays of our own per year, but also house a vast array of visiting plays, concerts and other performances.
The theatre is located by the beautiful Aura river in the heart of Turku. The theatre building was renovated in 2017 and the building has expanded to encompass three permanent stages. In addition to the Päänäyttämö, the theatre comprises of the Pieni näyttämö and Sopukka. Our restaurant Viides näyttämö (aptly translates to the Fifth Stage) welcomes gourmands and theatre visitors alike with a menu comprising the best seasonal and local ingredients.
The majority of our plays are in Finnish, but musicals (and occasionally other plays) are surtitled in English.
We also offer guided tours of the theatre in Finnish and English. Make sure to book your English tour in advance, as availability may vary.
